Dave Portnoy Celebrates Patriots’ Super Bowl Return
Right now, it seems like no one is more excited than Dave Portnoy. The founder of Barstool Sports and passionate Patriots fan took to social media following New England’s narrow 10-7 victory over the Broncos in the AFC Championship Game held in Denver, marking their ticket to the 2026 Super Bowl.
The Patriots managed to come back from a 7-0 deficit in the first quarter. They took the lead in the second with a rushing touchdown by Drake Maye and a 23-yard field goal by Andy Borregales late in the third quarter.
“Back to the Super Bowl where this team belongs,” Portnoy exclaimed in a video shortly after the snowy match. “And I’ll never forget that this dynasty started with Tackle Rule in a blizzard. It’s starting again here in Denver with Adam Vinatieri in the booth with Robin Craft in a blizzard.”
He continued to commend head coach Mike Vrabel’s effective strategies and praised the team for blocking a crucial fourth-quarter field goal that could have tied the game at ten.
The Broncos had to rely on backup quarterback Jarrett Stidham after starter Bo Nix suffered an ankle injury in the divisional playoff. Despite challenging snowy conditions during the second half, the Patriots held their ground to secure the win.
This marks the Patriots’ first return to the Super Bowl since their 2019 victory over the Rams. They will face the winner of the Rams-Seahawks matchup on February 8th at Levi’s Stadium.
Portnoy expressed his eagerness to reunite with friends, mentioning it had been years since the last New England Alumni Reunion. “I’ve got a reservation at House of Prime Rib in San Francisco. We’re going to win Super Bowl VII. I can’t wait. Who is better than us? No one,” he said.
He ended his celebration by repeatedly shouting, “Super Bowl!” filled with enthusiasm.
This playoff win gives the Patriots their 40th postseason victory, tying them with the 49ers for the most in NFL history.
