Dave Portnoy, founder of Barstool Sports, did not etch words about the Trump administration's “magnificent proportions f-k up” when the top brass carelessly shared a sensitive plan to attack Houthis with the top editors of Atlantic Magazine.
Portnoy, 48, cut out a video message to President Trump, who supported the 2024 election, claiming that the head should roll in the administration's top brass over a signal scandal.
“Trump, you may love Michael Waltz.” Portnoy saidspecifically dealing with Trump in videos posted on social media. “You love Pete Hegses. You may love these people. Someone has to get off.”
“To me, it's Michael Waltz,” he added. “He's the one who added him to this conversation. But you can't have the top of the top security people in the US with the most sensitive information in the world – add a random editor of a magazine that hates Trump's courage to the group chat where they talk about attacks before they happen with terrorist groups.”
National Security Advisor Mike Waltz added Chief Jeffrey Goldberg's editor of Atlantic Magazine to a private, encrypted signal chat called “Houthi PC Small Group,” where he deliberated on plans to attack a Yemen-based terrorist group.
There were 18 high-level officials, including Vice President J.D. Vance, National Intelligence Secretary Pete Hegses, National Intelligence Director Tarsi Gabbard, and CIA Director John Ratcliffe.
At one point, Hegseth made detailed plans in chat to hit Houthi's target, giving Goldberg about two hours of heads up before the military operation continued.
Waltz has since denied knowing Goldberg despite the two Photographed together A few years ago, he asserted, “I wouldn't text him, he wasn't on my phone.” The Waltz implies that he is facing a situation where he has “number of other people's contacts” in Goldberg.
Amidst the growing fire, Trump has been standing by the Waltz and all of his agents, at least for now. Publicly, Trump praised him for “doing his best” saying he didn't think the Waltz should apologize.
However, Portnoy countered that the scandal was not so easy to grasp.
“You can't get tired of it. You can't underestimate it. You can sit there and say, “Holy S-t. This is an af-k of magnificent proportions. Accountable.
Goldberg has long been an outspoken critic of Trump, and the president has long let go of him. Portnoy argued that the president had good reasons to oppose the Atlantic, and denounced it as one of the “left-handed media organizations.”
“I hate them. Trump hates them. They hate them. They hate Trump. They probably hate me,” Portnoy said.
“Listen, we all texted the wrong people. We are not Secretary of Defense, not national security advisers, not vice presidents of the United States.
“Yeah, mistakes happen. This cannot be done.”
After the Atlantic piece of the bomb about leaked signal chat came out, Heggs immediately shot Goldberg, telling reporters he was “a deceived, untrusted, what is called a journalist.”
The Pentagon boss also claimed that “no one has texted the war plan.” Top White House officials claimed it doubled on Wednesday after the Atlantic released a full message from Hegses.
“Pete Hegses' immediate response was, “No, it never happened. We didn't leak any sorted information. There's no sorted information there,” Portnoy said, “It's possible that many American soldiers have died.”
On Wednesday, Post's Stephen Nelson asked White House Press Secretary Caroline Leavitt about Portnoy's intense criticism of the president.
“I have great respect for Dave Portnoy,” Lewitt said before putting his review aside.
The National Security Council is conducting an investigation into the leak. Waltz is the staff of NSC. Additionally, White House Advisor Elon Musk's team will support the probe, according to Leavitt.
Portnoy posted criticism of Trump shortly after the Atlantic released its follow-up story on Wednesday.
“What do you think? It's very sensitive. It's very categorized,” Portnoy accused.
Top Trump administration officials have quized whether the message actually publishes classified material.
“It's surreal that these people added Jeffrey Goldberg to this group chat. So they were talking about the attack, they're coming all the way up to a few hours until it hits the attack.
