A bar in Philadelphia gained attention on Sunday after a bottle service waitress displayed a sign that said “f —Jew.” The incident was captured in a video that circulated on social media, showing various patrons partying without a care in the world.
The advocacy group focused on combating anti-Semitism highlighted the incident, prompting a strong reaction from Barstool Sports founder Dave Portnoy. He expressed his outrage in a social media video, stating, “I’ve been shaking. I’ve been crazy for the past two hours.” Portnoy emphasized his determination to find those responsible for the sign, threatening to “ruin these people” if he could.
He described reaching out to a waitress from the bar, whom he labeled as “a complete idiot,” and mentioned that another individual, Mike Wade, linked to the video, was not present at the establishment. Portnoy appeared emotional in his remarks, saying, “I shed tears at this child,” while accusing Wade of not taking responsibility.
Though Khan, the waitress, insisted she was not anti-Semitic, Portnoy was skeptical of her claims. He expressed frustration over the situation, insisting he wouldn’t remain idle regarding the incident. Portnoy later noted that two of the waitresses involved were fired after discussions regarding the matter.
He mentioned trying to maintain control over the situation, attempting to hold others accountable while asserting, “I’m on it.” In a dramatic turn, Khan appears to have deleted her Instagram account following the backlash. This incident comes amidst a rising tide of anti-Semitism, exacerbated by recent events relating to Hamas attacks on Israeli civilians.
Reports indicate that anti-Semitic incidents reached an all-time high last year, with a significant proportion linked to tensions in Israel.
