Barstool Sports’ Partnership with Fox Sports Faces Changes
There’s a shift happening with Dave Portnoy and Barstool Sports’ collaboration with Fox Sports.
Barstool has been dropped from the network’s “Big Noon Kickoff” program, which airs before college football games on Saturdays. Portnoy confirmed this news after a report by The Athletic.
For just over a year now, Portnoy and several Barstool figures have been part of Fox Sports’ college football coverage.
The Athletic suggests that the decision was largely influenced by difficulties in merging Fox’s more traditional programming with Barstool’s edgy style, particularly in light of the network’s ties with the Big Ten.
Interestingly, Portnoy, who is an alumnus and supporter of Michigan, has faced criticism for attending Ohio State home games.
Last season, there were even rumors that he had been banned from Ohio Stadium—a claim that the university officially denied.
On a different note, Portnoy took to X recently to address Ohio State head coach Ryan Day, sharing a rather frank message.
In his post, he stated, “Ohio State and Ryan Day bitched and moaned to the Big 10 and threatened Fox till they had no choice. Juice wasn’t worth the squeeze and frankly I don’t blame them. Huge dollars at stake and you have Cryin Ryan throwing temper tantrums and making threats every few days on something I said. I always knew Ryan Day was soft but holy s–t even I didn’t realize he was this soft.”
He also added, “The Barstool College Football will continue on. Maybe we’ll even see you in Columbus where contrary to popular belief most fans love the rivalry and aren’t p—–s like Cryin Ryan.”
Despite these changes, The Athletic reports that Barstool’s partnership with Fox Sports isn’t over yet, as their FS1 show, “Wake Up Barstool,” continues to air on weekdays.
