Dave Portnoy reveals details of Fox Sports agreement, becoming part of 'Big Noon Kickoff'

Dave Portnoy Partners with Fox Sports

Dave Portnoy, the head of Barstool Sports, officially announced on Thursday that his media empire will collaborate with Fox Sports, delving into their plans for the “Big Noon Kickoff.”

In his characteristic style, Portnoy posed a rhetorical question during an “Emergency Press Conference” video: “Does the conference that has dominated college football each year continue to lead in national championships?” He responded, “Answer: Big Ten. And which networks cover the Big Ten more than anyone else? Fox Sports. ‘Big Noon Kickoff.’ So which schools dominate this conference?”

Portnoy remarked, “Well, that’s over today, friends. Barstool Sports and I, we’re joining in on the ‘Big Noon Kickoff.’ The days of sidelining Michigan when we weren’t involved are gone.”

Further discussing the partnership, he hinted at an “unknown show” with cohosts Ryan Whitney and Kirk Minahane, emphasizing its broad scope. “We’re teaming up with the ‘Big Noon Kickoff…’ I’ll be participating every week,” he shared, explaining that the Barstool Sports college football show would lead into the kickoff event.

“We’ll host an 8-10 daily show at Fox Sports 1—it’ll feel like a ‘Barstool Breakfast Show’,” Portnoy said, mentioning his commitment to Mondays. He also noted, “We have an office in Chicago. They really want a taste of the world of Barstool.”

While Barstool personalities like Dan “Big Cat” Katz have roles in this new venture, the details are still being worked out. It’s a significant comeback for Portnoy and his crew, especially after the abrupt cancellation of their previous show with ESPN, “Van Talk,” just one episode in, a move that sparked contention within the network. Portnoy expressed his confidence that such issues wouldn’t resurface with Fox Sports.

Portnoy summed up his feelings on the collaboration by stating, “I’m very happy with this deal.” And it seems Fox Sports shares that sentiment. They expressed excitement about welcoming Barstool Sports, praising Portnoy’s distinctive brand and its connection to a newer generation of sports fans, highlighting its authenticity and originality.
