Dave Portnoy made a shocking announcement about his health on Wednesday night.
The Barstool Sports founder, wearing a bandage on the left side of his neck, announced he has cancer on “The Dozens Trivia” after hinting at his battling health issues on “BFFs Pod” earlier in the day.
“It’s a lot of pressure. This is it. This is what I’ve been waiting for all season,” a bandaged Portnoy said of the quiz showdown. “I have cancer, by the way. It’s no big deal.”
It is not clear what type of cancer Portnoy had or when he was diagnosed.
Following the announcement, Portnoy appeared on The X Show and revealed that he had overcome an unknown form of cancer.
“I had cancer, but I overcame it, thankfully it wasn’t a serious cancer. [Rico] “Not sure if Bosko thinks cancer is funny,” Portnoy wrote to X, alongside a video of Bosko talking with Dan Katz.
Bosco said he was not aware that Portnoy, 47, had been suffering from health scares.
“I’m not going to make a big show of it,” Portnoy told Bosco in the video, as he was wearing a sling.
Earlier in the day, “BFFs Pod” previewed Wednesday’s episode with footage of what appeared to be a cut on the same side of Portnoy’s neck that he had bandaged during the quiz show.
When host Briana LaPaglia asked Portnoy what the scar on his neck was, he replied that it was cancer.
It is unclear what kind of treatment Portnoy received.
