David Faustino on Christina Applegate’s Resilience

David Faustino, who starred as the younger brother of Christina Applegate in *Married…With Children*, shared that despite her fight against multiple sclerosis, Applegate still maintains her unique sense of humor.

“It’s been tough for her, but her humor hasn’t faded,” Faustino noted. In a conversation with *US Weekly*, he described Applegate’s MS diagnosis as a “huge blow.”

Faustino, 52, noted that from the first time they met, Applegate, 54, had a “dry, sarcastic sense of humor” and emphasized that “nothing has changed,” even amid serious health challenges that required her hospitalization.

He mentioned that Applegate remains “very cynical” and “very dry,” adding, “She’s managing this with humor. That’s her approach.” Since she publicly announced her diagnosis in June 2021, Faustino has been there to support her.

He reassured that he keeps in touch with Applegate regularly. “I visit her often. We email each other and check in. Mostly, we just talk about funny stuff. That’s how I can contribute—by sending her my love,” he said.

When they get together, he reflected, they engage in meaningful discussions but also share a lot of laughter.

Applegate and Faustino played siblings Kelly and Bud Bundy, respectively, on *Married…With Children*, which ran on FOX from 1987 to 1997, alongside Ed O’Neill and Katey Sagal as the parents, Al and Peggy Bundy.

In April, Applegate shared a health update after her hospitalization in Los Angeles. She expressed her gratitude for the support, saying, “Health issues are common for me, but I’m a strong chick, getting stronger and better each day.” She also mentioned her intention to focus on her health while promising to return with more updates.

Her representatives have refrained from discussing whether the hospitalization was linked to her autoimmune issues, stating, “We do not comment on the nature of her treatment. She has openly shared her complex medical journey in her memoir and podcast.”

Earlier this year, Applegate disclosed that she was bedridden due to persistent pain but still manages to drive her 15-year-old daughter, Sadie, to school. “I want to take her with me; it’s my favorite thing to do. That’s our time together,” she explained. “I tell myself to get her safely there and then back to bed.”
