D’Backs manager Torey Lovullo loses it and gets umpires thrown out

Diamondbacks Manager Gets Ejected During Giants Game

Arizona Diamondbacks’ manager, Torey Lovullo, made headlines during Wednesday’s game against the San Francisco Giants. He was ejected in the bottom of the eighth inning, while his team narrowly secured an 8-7 victory over their National League Western rivals.

Lovullo displayed a bit of theatrics as he argued with the umpires before leaving the field, insisting on making his case rather passionately. He even jokingly suggested he wished he had a UNO reverse card to change the outcome.

After his ejection, he continued to debate the calls, seemingly taking the situation in stride. “I think the call was correct,” Lovullo said post-game. “The umpiring was solid, and I’ve been corrected.” This was a surprising words from him given the circumstances.

The ejection stemmed from a play involving Giants infielder Christian Koss, who had a close encounter at second base after colliding with Diamondbacks’ Jordan Lawler. Koss was tagged out, which added to the drama of the inning.

Lovullo was particularly animated, confronting umpire Mark Ripperger over what he believed was a misjudgment affecting the play. “In that moment, I felt like they were trying to cover themselves,” he explained later, reflecting on the heated exchange. However, he acknowledged that interference had indeed taken place.

The Diamondbacks managed to improve their record to 23-21, while the Giants fell to 25-19, leaving fans and players buzzing about the incident long after the game had ended.
