Deadly crash on 210 Freeway: 1 person killed, 32 injured when semi-truck crosses median in Irwindale

A serious accident unfolded Saturday morning on Highway 210 in Irwindale, resulting in one woman’s death and leaving over 30 others injured. The incident began when a big rig traveling east lost control, crossed the median, and collided with a vehicle heading west.

This tragic event happened just before 9 a.m., west of Irwindale Avenue, according to the records from the California Highway Patrol.

Officials reported that at least three vehicles were involved, although the exact number was still being assessed by investigators.

The jackknifed semi-truck crashed through the median, leading to a multi-car pileup that halted traffic on both sides of the highway.

The woman was declared dead at the scene, and so far, her identity hasn’t been revealed.

Emergency responders reported that ten individuals were transported to local hospitals, with two suffering serious injuries and the remaining eight sustaining minor injuries. Among those injured were six boys.

Additionally, 22 others experienced minor injuries but opted not to be taken to the hospital.

This accident prompted major road closures; all westbound lanes were shut, alongside three eastbound lanes, causing significant traffic delays in both directions.

The California Highway Patrol noted in a social media update that the lane closures would remain in effect “for an unknown period of time” as they investigate the circumstances surrounding the crash.
