FBI Discloses Deployment of Agents During Capitol Riot

The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) has revealed, after years of speculation, that it had over 250 agents in plainclothes mingling with the crowds on January 6, 2021. This information came to light through various reports, including one from The Blaze, which cited a senior congressional source.

Representative Barry Loudermilk (R-Ga.), who chairs the House Jan. 6th Select Subcommittee, confirmed the information when he stated, “We’ve learned that there were indeed many paid informants among the crowd.” He noted that the Department of Justice had acknowledged that over two dozen individuals were embedded during the events.

Curiously, he raised questions about the informants’ roles: “Were they simply there to gather information or were they instigating?” It’s a valid concern, especially considering that if the FBI had so many informants, it raises eyebrows as to why they seemed unprepared for the unfolding events.

A recent report by the Department of Justice Office of the Inspector General had claimed no evidence of undercover agents in the protest crowds, which now appears to contradict the FBI’s recent disclosure. President Trump weighed in, labeling it “A Radical Left Democrat Scam!” as he shared a report about the situation.

There were also internal frustrations among the agents themselves, who felt like they were caught in a political struggle. Anonymous complaints surfaced from numerous FBI employees expressing dissatisfaction with leadership, claiming the Bureau had become politicized under former directors James Comey and Christopher Wray.

One anonymous agent stated, “We are supposed to operate neutral to political pressures, but now it feels like we can’t even be trusted to perform our jobs.” This sentiment reflects a broader concern among agents who felt inadequately equipped during the protests and bewildered by the perceived political biases within the agency.

The aftermath of these events was examined by a team led by FBI Director Kash Patel, which was tasked with investigating the agency’s deployment strategy and the alleged politicization of federal agents. Wray has previously maintained that claims of his bias against conservatives are unfounded, suggesting that those who criticize the FBI often have their own agendas.

The recent information is likely to spark renewed public inquiry into the extent to which plainclothes agents influenced or participated in the events of January 6.
