‘Deep-state criminals’ who leaked classified secrets to the press face DOJ referral: Gabbard

National Intelligence Director Tulsi Gabbard announced Wednesday that he had introduced two “deep criminals” to the Department of Justice.

She noted that the third crime introduction was “in the middle.”

The accused allegedly leaked confidential information to news outlets, including the Washington Post and the New York Times. At this time it is unclear which specific material has been handed over to the press.

“The offenders from these deep states have leaked information classified for partisan political purposes in order to undermine the Potus agenda.”

Gabbard said that individuals are within the intelligence news community and have been accused of sharing categorized information.

She wrote in post Social media says, “The leakage of classified information as the politicization of our intelligence must endanger and end the security of our country. Those who leaked classified information will be found to the fullest extent of the law and will be accountable.”

“Today, I introduced two Intelligence Reporting community leaks to the Department of Justice for a criminal referral, including a recent illegal leak to the Washington Post,” Gabbard continued. “The offenders from these deep states have leaked information classified for partisan political purposes in order to undermine the Potus agenda.”

She added that she plans to partner with the DOJ and the FBI to investigate, terminate and prosecute these offenders.

The Department of Defense and Homeland Security launched similar internal investigations to crack down on leaks to the press.

A source at the DNI office said Fox News Digital Gabbard’s introduction should be useful as a “warning” to the intelligence news community. Officials noted that recent actions were just the first step in “holding these individuals accountable.”

“We are actively investigating other leaks and will pursue further criminal referrals as guaranteed,” an official told the news outlet. “This should be taken as a warning if any Intelligence Community bureaucrats considering leaks to the media.”
