Dion Sanders Raises Health Concerns Post-Game
Dion Sanders, the head coach of the Colorado Buffaloes, shared his worries about potentially facing more health clots after his team’s loss to TCU on Saturday. Observers noted that he appeared to be sitting quite a bit during the game.
Earlier this offseason, Sanders underwent treatment for bladder cancer. It has come to light that part of his intestine has been reconstructed to function as a bladder, which is a significant medical transition. He mentioned he might need portable toilets on the sidelines, just in case.
After the game, he admitted he was in a considerable amount of pain. “I think—I think I may have more clots,” he said, adding that it was puzzling to feel intense pain yet not see any blood. He expressed frustration about his aching legs, which he described as throbbing.
To address these new concerns, Sanders has appointed a physician for consultation. “I didn’t mean to share this, but I appreciate those who noticed,” he admitted when questioned about his condition.
In July, Sanders disclosed his bladder cancer diagnosis, though he mentioned he had been cured since then. Before this diagnosis, he had also faced issues with his left foot, even undergoing surgery to remove two toes back in 2021 due to blood clot complications.
It’s not uncommon for coaches to push through pain, but Sanders’s situation raises questions about how health issues can impact their responsibilities. As concerns grow, everyone is hoping for a smoother path ahead for him, both personally and in his coaching journey.
