Deion Sanders Avoids Health Conversations
Deion Sanders has chosen not to discuss his health issues publicly. During the 2025 Big 12 Media Days, the Colorado head coach sidestepped questions about his ongoing health struggles.
“I’m already back,” Sanders told ESPN. “I’m here today. I’m ready to take on my responsibilities. Can’t wait to see the players I haven’t met yet. I’m genuinely excited.”
Things got a bit tense when David Ubin from athletics inquired about Sanders’ well-being.
“You know how it is in athletics. Sometimes it’s just bull junk,” Sanders remarked, expressing his frustration. “But I’m not here to talk about my health. I’m focused on my team.”
Ubin then shifted gears, asking about Sanders’ offseason at the ranch.
“Every day, I live a good life,” Sanders replied. “Honestly, I feel blessed. It’s not about the world’s cares or desires.”
This spring and summer, Sanders was unusually absent, grappling with undisclosed health matters. He missed a variety of events, including the wedding of former Buffalo player Travis Hunter in May and the Colorado Football Camp in June.
On June 11th, Sanders offered a hopeful update via social media, expressing eagerness to return to Colorado and reconnect with the staff and team. He also shared a light moment on Instagram over the July 4th weekend, posting a video featuring Lil Wayne visiting his Texas compound.
In recent years, Sanders has faced several health challenges, notably a surgery in 2023 to address a blood clot in his left leg.
Looking ahead, Colorado’s season opener is against Georgia Tech on August 29, 2025.
