According to reports, a Delta Airlines plane carrying Carolina Panthers players skidded off the runway shortly after landing at Charlotte Douglas International Airport on Friday morning.
The incident occurred around 2:35 a.m. as Delta Flight 8860 took off from Providence, Rhode Island, just after midnight and landed at an airport in North Carolina. WCNC.
“The right main landing gear of Delta Flight 8860 cleared the taxiway at Charlotte Douglas International Airport following a routine arrival,” the airline said in a statement.
Emergency vehicles rushed to the plane shortly after it left the runway, the report said.
Witnesses at Charlotte airport told the outlet that the plane was carrying several Carolina Panthers players, who had played against the New England Patriots in an NFL preseason game a few hours earlier.
Fortunately, Delta has confirmed that all 188 passengers on board were uninjured in the tragic accident.
Delta Air Lines said passengers safely disembarked from the plane shortly after the incident and were “transported by bus to the terminal.”
“Delta apologizes to customers for any inconvenience caused,” it said in a statement to WCNC.
The horrific incident reportedly came just hours after four American Airlines flight attendants were injured during a flight from Tampa Bay to Charlotte. Worldwide.
