Sen. Bob Casey, D-Pennsylvania, decided Monday to endorse his close aide, President Joe Biden, despite the president’s widely panned performance in a debate with former President Donald Trump.
“He had a bad night at the debate, but I think people know what’s at stake,” Casey said. Said He argued that Keystone State voters are more concerned about left-wing priorities like abortion, labor and voting rights, and the fate of “democracy.”
Casey’s Republican opponent, businessman Dave McCormick, wrote on Monday:
Bob Casey, are you really not concerned about Biden’s “terrible” debate performance? Pennsylvanians I have heard from certainly are. Our military needs a Commander in Chief who has the strength and acumen to lead in a crisis. Yet Casey is back to his usual boring ways of defending Biden and lying to Pennsylvanians.

Pennsylvanians I have spoken to certainly agree: Our military needs a commander in chief who has the strength and insight to lead in times of crisis.

John Hasson of the conservative news site Townhall noted that Casey has repeatedly said Biden is “ready” to be president.
“No questions asked [Biden is] “I am prepared to serve in this role today and will serve if re-elected,” Casey said in March 2024.

“Joe Biden is unfit for the job, but Bob Casey has refused to do the right thing and stand up for his party during a national crisis. Casey is a staunch Democrat who will always put party before country. Pennsylvanians deserve a senator who will put them first,” Philip Letsow, spokesman for the National Republican Senatorial Committee (NRSC), said in a statement Monday.
