Whitney Tilson, a longtime Wall Street investor and Democratic donor, has accused Joe Biden of “misleading the American people” about his ability to do his job and called on him to “immediately resign” as the party’s nominee for president in 2024.
The 57-year-old rich man made a fortune during the financial crisis, In 2017, he closed his hedge fund, Case Capital. — told the Post that Biden should pit a younger rival against Trump to save the country “from a four-year nightmare” following his gaffe at last week’s CNN debate.
“I feel like I’ve been lied to,” Tilson said. “Biden and the people around him have lied to the American people.”
“The dam has broken. We all know we’ve been lied to, and everyone can see it.”
“I purposely call this the big lie because it’s as big a lie as Trump’s big lie,” he added, referring to the former president’s claim that the 2020 election was rigged.
Shortly after speaking with The Post, Tilson Tweeted a parody video It allegedly shows Adolf Hitler ranting about Biden’s disastrous debate performance.
“we*“Damn it,” he said, but this was mistranslated.
Although the video has become a popular internet meme, it is actually an excerpt from the German-language film “Downfall,” which focuses on the Nazi leader’s final days in Berlin.
Tilson said Democrats should find a replacement and that he would support whoever wins.
“I hope Kamala[Harris]gives it her all in this race. Biden can’t just nominate her,” he told The Post by phone from Italy. “If she emerges as the front-runner, I will support her.”
The Wall Street veteran has proposed two potential co-candidates who he sees as potential challengers to President Trump.
He said his first choice is New Jersey Sen. Cory Booker and his running mate is former Rhode Island Governor Gina Raimundo.
“Booker could get lucky, just like Barack Obama did heading into 2008,” Tilson said.
He also argued that Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer and Maryland Governor Wes Moore would be comparable to Trump in November’s presidential election.
His comments come as pressure continues to grow for the 81-year-old Trump to drop out of the presidential race.
Biden stumbled and mumbled many times during his 90-minute battle with his 2020 presidential rival.
His poor performance has raised concerns among major Democratic donors, who have accused the president’s aides of encouraging him to stay on.
But it also drew criticism from left-leaning media outlets such as MSNBC, which have repeatedly ignored concerns about Biden’s cognitive abilities throughout his term.
The White House slammed the Washington Post after the paper ran a front-page story labelling Biden a “lost president” after he roamed the recent G7 summit in Italy.
But it’s not just billionaire Democrats who are worried about whether the former Delaware senator can hold on to the biggest job in the world for another four years.
A recent USA Today/Suffolk University poll also found that core Biden supporters question whether he should remain in the presidential race in 2024.
In a CNN post-debate poll, more than four in 10 Democrats said party leaders should demand that Biden withdraw from the race.
On average, 54% of voters in polls supported Biden withdrawing.
But even after his recent conviction, only 14% of Republicans said the GOP should remove Trump from the running.
Real estate mogul President Trump received a turnaround on Monday following a Supreme Court ruling granting him partial immunity in the performance of his official duties as president.
This could undermine the numerous lawsuits being filed against Trump that Democrats had hoped would finally derail his campaign.
