James Carville, a longtime Democratic strategist, blamed the party’s polling problems on “too many preachy women,” and said President Biden’s significantly low approval ratings were “like Grandma Naked.” He likened it to “walking towards each other.”
“I can’t get that image out of my head,” said Carville, 79. Maureen Dowd of the New York Times said..
The outspoken political consultant who rose to national prominence by guiding President Bill Clinton’s success in the 1992 presidential campaign is back at it again raising money for the Democratic Party and making documentaries.
Biden’s approval rating remains low at 37% even after his much-hyped State of the Union address.
Carville, a Southerner never known for mincing words, believes the Democratic Party’s “feminine” focus is “killing us to wakefulness” and it’s costing the party elections. I think it’s possible.
His biggest concern is that Biden is likely to lose support among black voters, one of his strongest bases.
“My suspicion is that there are too many preachy women” dominating the Democratic Party’s culture and message, he told the Times in New Orleans. “‘Don’t drink beer. Don’t watch football. Don’t eat hamburgers. This isn’t good for you.’ The message ‘Everything you’re doing is destroying the planet’ is Too feminine. Must eat peas. ”
“NPR is my go-to place to listen to Democratic elites, but the whole story is about how women and women of color decide this election,” he said. continued. “I’m like, ‘Well, 48 percent of the people who vote for him are male.’ Can I have some consideration?”
Mr. Carville disagreed with party members who think Mr. Biden’s age is being overemphasized, noting that Mr. Biden is the first thing most voters say about the 81-year-old incumbent.

“Don’t say Biden has more energy or awareness than Trump. Yes, Trump obviously has a word salad, but he clearly projects energy,” Carville said. He also called Trump “insane” and a “criminal.”
Biden’s decision to run for re-election will leave young and talented members of his party in his shadow.
Although Carville doesn’t know how Biden’s campaign will turn out, he still has his sights set on Biden.
“He’s a tenacious guy who’s lived a real life. He’s a student at a state school. He doesn’t have any sense of elitism. He doesn’t even know what it means to be ‘woke.’ he said.
Asked how Biden could change the narrative around his campaign, Carville shrugged and said: “I don’t think Mr. Biden can do anything more than continue to fight hard and allow Democratic groups to intervene.”
