Democrats Face Major Challenges in New Poll

The Democrats are currently grappling with a difficult reality.

A recent Wall Street Journal poll reveals that their net favorability has dropped to a 35-year low.

It seems they are also struggling against Republicans on a variety of key issues.

According to the latest findings:

  • Republicans lead Democrats in internet favorability: -11 for Republicans, -30 for Democrats (the lowest in 35 years).
  • On trust regarding illegal immigration, Republicans hold a significant +24 advantage.
  • For general immigration, the gap is +17; on inflation, +10; customs issues, +7; foreign policy, +8.
  • However, Democrats have a slight edge on vaccination policy (+8) and healthcare (+14).

Breitbart highlighted that, in terms of public perception, the Democrats’ standing has plummeted to its weakest since 1990. The poll indicates that 63% of American voters see the party as being at a disadvantage, with a mere 8% rating it very favorably. This is the lowest approval rating the party has seen since 1990, making it clear that many voters feel disconnected.

Trust in Republicans is noticeably higher across most pressing issues, particularly immigration, where they enjoy a remarkable 24-point lead. This trust prevails even among those voters who may criticize Trump’s policies. For instance, while views on Trump’s handling of inflation have improved by 11 percentage points, voters still favor Republicans by a considerable margin.

John Anzalon, a Democrat voter, commented on the dire situation for the party’s brand, suggesting they lack the credibility to effectively criticize Trump or the Republican Party. He expressed concerns that if the Democrats don’t reconnect with voters, they will face significant challenges ahead.

As Anzalon put it, “They don’t have the credibility to be Trump or Republican critics because democratic brands are so bad. They’re having problems until they reunite with real voters and people who work for who they are and what their financial message is.”
