Democrat Effort to Criticize Trump on Grocery Prices Flops

Democrats attempted to criticize President Donald Trump regarding grocery prices in a social media post Thursday, but their efforts backfired.

The party’s official X account shared a graph attributed to “Trump’s America,” but it inadvertently depicted the price increases during the time of former President Joe Biden, as reported by Fox News Friday.

In a tweet, it was stated, “U.S. grocery prices reached record highs in 2025,” suggesting that current prices were higher than in July 2024.

The categories mentioned included cheese, alcohol, groceries, dairy, produce, and meat. Interestingly, the graph indicated that prices began rising in 2021 and eventually stabilized toward the end of 2024, coinciding with Trump’s re-election.

Social media reactions to the now-deleted post were swift and critical. One user remarked, “What a lot of clowns,” while another said, “This is how stupid they are,” suggesting that Democrats might not be able to interpret graphs correctly.

A November CBS/YouGov survey suggested that Trump believed he could lower food and grocery costs, as Breitbart News noted. This followed Biden’s acknowledgment in September that he had failed to tame inflation and that a Green Energy Initiative he proposed had been inappropriate, involving significant funding.

Biden made these comments during an event in Westbee, Wisconsin, where he was promoting his investment in Videnomics. He described the Inflation Reduction Act as “the most important climate change law ever,” referring to it as a substantial $369 billion initiative.

Recently, U.S. consumer prices saw a decline in March. Breitbart News highlighted that this decrease was driven by lower costs on goods, opposing the expectation that Trump’s tariffs would cause prices to rise.

This was reportedly the first drop in consumer prices in nearly three years and marked the second decline following inflation spikes under Biden’s administration, which were described as the highest in decades.

Inflation continued to rise while Biden was still in office in January, and White House officials indicated in February that Trump had swiftly addressed the repercussions of the previous administration’s economic policies that negatively impacted Americans.
