The Democratic mayor refused to answer whether to hand over illegal immigrant criminals to Immigration Customs Enforcement (ICE) during a hearing Wednesday.
Boston Mayor Michelle Wu and Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson did not explicitly answer questions from Rep. James Commer (R-KY) Chairman (R-KY).
“Would you like to hand this offender over to the ice in detainees?” Comer asked Johnson, but the mayor of Chicago dodges the question and replied, “Our local law enforcement agencies work hard every day to drive off criminals off the streets of Chicago.”

“Would you like to hand that criminal over to the ice?” the lawmaker asked again.
“That's the problem. It's one of the topics in this conversation,” Comer continued. “That's one of the issues we've heard from Tom Homan and Homeland Security. In your city, someone is arresting a crime and Ice now wants to expel criminal foreigners who don't cooperate with ice in this new federal policy.”
“Would you hand over that criminal over to the ice?” the lawmaker repeated.
Johnson repeats his first answer, “We don't hold criminals. Our local police department works hard every day to ensure that there is the city of Chicago.”
“Yes or no?” Commerce has been suspended. “Would you hand over the criminals to the ice?”
However, the mayor of Chicago did not respond with a simple “yes” or “no” and instead replied, “On a criminal warrant from the federal government, local law enforcement agencies have repeatedly worked with federal agents.”
“So you're saying publicly today, aren't you going to hand that alien over to the ice in a safe place like a prison, then kick them out on the street and say, 'Go here, ice, good fortune'? Do you hand over the criminal to the ice? ” asked Kommer.
Johnson replied by repeating again, “The offender should be handed over to the ice,” “as we've done for 40 years,” before lawmakers stepped in.
“Criminal warrants make them subject to federal law, which includes deportation,” Johnson said.
Comer, who had expired by then, said, “We've heard reports and many of you have publicly said you're going to interfere with it. [the federal government]. It is against the law. ”
At another moment of the hearing, Boston Mayor Michelle Wu also refused to answer whether her city would work with the federal government.
“Last year, in a Boston suburb, an illegal foreigner raped his 14-year-old daughter while living in shelter for illegal foreigners,” he said, “Whaaat Mayor Wu would hand over the criminal to the ice under Boston law?”

The mayor of Boston also responded by dodging questions, saying, “Whenever there is a criminal warrant, the Boston police will execute it and hold it accountable.”
“So you're going to hand over the criminal to the ice?” the lawmaker repeated.
Wu replied. “This happened outside of Boston, but you can tell you in the city. Whenever someone commits a crime, whenever there is a criminal warrant, we are accountable to them. If ICE thinks it's dangerous enough to hold them, then get a criminal warrant and the Boston police will enforce it.”
“Would you like to hand that criminal over to the ice?” Kommer asked again. The mayor of Boston replied, “We must follow the law and check everyone out –.”
“I consider it a 'no',” Comer interrupted.
As reported by Breitbart News, border area Tom Homan, during his speech at the Conservative Political Action Council (CPAC) last month, denounced Massachusetts' policy on illegal immigration and sanctuary cities, declaring that “I'm coming to Boston and I have hell.”
