Democrats’ Declining Support Spurs Backlash
Democratic support appears to be dwindling significantly, yet one Democratic senator attempted to find a silver lining amid this decline.
According to recent polling from the Wall Street Journal, only a third of respondents expressed support for the Democrats. Conversely, a staggering 63% viewed the party negatively, marking the lowest rating for the Democrats in 35 years.
“Dems lost their heart as they continue their path to meaningless parties.”
When confronted with questions about the party’s struggles, Connecticut Senator Chris Murphy tried to frame the disappointing data in a more positive perspective. He mentioned that many within the party want a stronger fight against Trump’s actions, suggesting this is a sign of intrinsic value.
“I understand there are a lot of Democrats who want us to fight harder. So Trump is burning our democracy, and that’s frankly a good indication,” he stated, as reported by Fox News reporter Chad Pergram.
Murphy’s attempt at damage control was met with skepticism on social media.
“Grabitron level spin here,” commented CNN contributor Mary Katherine Ham. Another critic remarked, “Dems lost their heart as he continued his path to a meaningless party.”
There were also remarks highlighting discontent with the elite choosing the 2024 candidate over voter input, along with criticisms on the repetitive use of phrases about “burning democracy,” which some find absurd.

Simultaneously, issues surrounding tariffs and significant deportation discussions have contributed to a dip in President Trump’s favorability, although he still enjoys greater online popularity compared to the Democrats.
As the opposition experiences historical momentum, all eyes are on the upcoming midterm elections. Democrats are hopeful that they can reverse Republican support and regain control of the House and possibly the Senate.
