Democrat Rep Susie Lee removes her profanity-laden tirade against Trump from social media.

Nevada Democratic Representative Susie Lee stirred quite a reaction online last Wednesday with a late-night, profanity-laden tirade against President Donald Trump, all in response to her intention to attend oral arguments at the Supreme Court.

“Things have gotten really bad. I hope to confront him in person,” Lee tweeted just before 1 a.m. ET. She also remarked, “I find myself saying that a lot nowadays.”

At 59, Lee, who has served four terms in Congress, shared her harsh comments following an Associated Press report about Trump visiting the court for a case concerning his birthright citizenship order.

Trump’s efforts to eliminate automatic birthright citizenship for children born in the U.S. to undocumented parents are widely opposed by Democrats.

Commentator Steve Guest chimed in, suggesting, “Either Rep. Susie Lee was drunk when she tweeted this, or a staffer posted it on her behalf.” Meanwhile, conservative figure Eric Dougherty expressed his outrage, calling Trump “a psychopath” on social media.

Faced with backlash, Lee deleted her tweet the following morning without much explanation. When contacted for further comments, a spokesperson directed inquiries to a statement on Lee’s social media, where she mentioned, “Clearly, my words resonated. The attack on our Constitution and its separation of powers struck a nerve with me. I made an oath to protect it.”

Lee’s outburst comes at a time when the Nevada Democratic Party is trying to present itself as a unifying force. Notably, Trump had narrowly won Lee’s suburban Las Vegas district by less than a point in 2024, making it a significant target for Republicans.

The National Republican Congressional Committee criticized Lee’s vulgar remarks, with spokesperson Christian Martinez stating, “Democrat Susie Lee has made a fool of herself in Nevada, more concerned with her offensive comments than fulfilling her responsibilities. Pressing delete doesn’t erase the embarrassment.”

On the legal front, the Trump administration argues that the 14th Amendment was intended to grant citizenship to newly freed slaves and their descendants, not to the children of illegal immigrants or temporary residents.

In a recent interview, Trump remarked, “I’ve been hearing this argument for ages. This wasn’t about wealthy foreigners suddenly having dozens of children becoming citizens. It was a matter involving former slaves. This is the most absurd thing I’ve ever seen, and the legal community has treated it poorly over time.”
