Democrat Shelly Headen Takes Down Social Media After Comments Suggesting Trump Supporters Should Be in Concentration Camps

North Carolina Legislative Candidate Shelly Headen Deactivates Social Media Accounts

North Carolina Democrat, Shelly Headen, has seemingly deactivated her social media accounts after Breitbart News reported on a controversial post where she suggested that Trump supporters should be placed in concentration camps. This remark was made while she was smiling in front of an oven at the Dachau memorial in Germany.

According to reports, Headen was visiting Dachau, a site where the memorial states that 41,500 people were killed. In images shared on social media, she appears to be smiling next to what seem to be crematorium ovens used by the Nazi SS for burning the bodies of Jewish prisoners and others who perished at the camp. It’s estimated that six million Jews were murdered during the Holocaust.

A day prior, remarks resurfaced where she appeared to call for a terror attack on American soil, specifying, “I think our only hope is an attack on US soil… preferably Alabama, Louisiana… where the stupid people are.”

Headen’s personal Facebook and campaign accounts, along with her X account, are currently inactive. When attempting to access these profiles, a message indicates that the content isn’t available, likely suggesting that the accounts were either restricted or deleted.

Nevertheless, her campaign website remains operational, and her ActBlue account for fundraising is still active. On her fundraising page, she states, “I never thought I’d be running for the House, but watching the decisions being made in Raleigh that affect each one of us, I can no longer sit on the sidelines because I know we can do better.”

Local Democratic leaders and the state party have withdrawn their support for her campaign. However, most criticism from fellow Democrats has been voiced by spokespersons rather than the candidates themselves.

An example includes former Governor Roy Cooper, who has previously appeared at various events alongside Headen and has accepted three contributions to his Senate campaign from her through ActBlue.

Cooper has not publicly addressed the concerning posts. A spokesperson for him commented to Breitbart News, stating, “These remarks are reprehensible — Roy strongly condemns them and all forms of political violence and he believes it’s up to all of us to speak responsibly.”

Interestingly, North Carolina Governor Josh Stein, who is Jewish, has yet to make any public statements or respond to multiple media inquiries regarding this matter.
