Democrats in the House are pushing for a vote on a resolution against President Donald Trump. Senator Shri Thanedar from Michigan introduced this measure as a privilege on Tuesday, allowing leaders to expedite the legislative process over two days.
House GOP leaders managed to bring the motion to the floor, which is primarily a procedural vote aimed at resolving the matter without needing a formal vote on the legislation itself.
However, this vote could put some vulnerable House Democrats in a difficult position. Since the 2024 election, Democrats have found it challenging to present a cohesive message, and votes like this might be politically risky for their most at-risk members as they aim to reclaim the House majority in 2026.
While Republicans are expected to support Trump, Thanedar’s attempt is likely to not succeed.
