Democratic challenger Adam Gray flips California’s 13th Congressional District in nation’s final House race

According to the Associated Press, Democrat Adam Gray has won California's 13th Congressional District election, defeating incumbent Republican Rep. John Duarte.

California's 13th Congressional District is one of the Golden State's most competitive races and was the last seat to be elected. Republicans maintained their majority with 220, followed by Democrats with 216.

Gray, a former state representative who represented California's 21st Congressional District from 2012 to 2022, is a centrist Democrat who focuses on issues important to Central Valley farmers, such as water scarcity. It is considered that He also campaigned on renewable energy solutions.

The race has been characterized as one of the closest in the country. In 2022, Mr. Duarte narrowly defeated Mr. Gray by just 564 votes.
