Democratic group: Hit Trump on economy

The third way, the think tank on the left, argued that President Trump needs to be criticised for one of his biggest problems: the economy.

As Trump passes the 60-day mark of his second term, he takes x to many long-time federal agencies, cutting hundreds of thousands of jobs and maintaining programs domestically and internationally for the benefit of cost-cutting. He also plunged the country into a trade war with his tariff plans.

While protests have begun nationwide, the report argues that for most Americans it may just be noise. Democrats must “separate the signal from the noise” and show the public how Trump campaigned on economic promises he has not yet provided.

“Among dozens of red flashing lights on the economy, policymakers have a clear signal. Democrats must take responsibility for Trump's poor performance,” the group said in a report first reported by Semafor.

The report, Trump noted, cannot predict whether the recession is heading towards Americans. That came after Treasury Secretary Howard Lutnick said Trump's tariff plans were “worthy” even if it led to a recession.

The third approach pointed to the effects Americans already felt from Trump's economic policies, including stagnant retail sales, declining stock markets, and tariff concerns.

“When the pain caused by their actions begins to sweep into working families, Democrats must make Republicans own Trump's poor performance,” the report concluded.
