Democratic State AG Hits Three Trump Allies With 2020 Election-Related Charges

Wisconsin Attorney General Josh Kaul, a Democrat, on Tuesday charged three associates of President Trump with falsifying documents related to the 2020 election.

Attorneys Kenneth Chesbro and Jim Tulpis, along with former aide Mike Roman, face One count each of forgery related to their roles in submitting alternate electoral certificates to Congress stating that former President Donald Trump, not President Joe Biden, won the state’s 2020 election. Democratic Gov. Tony Evers share One-word response to X’s charges: “Thank goodness.”

Both Chesbro and Roman were also indicted in a racketeering case by Fulton County, Georgia, District Attorney Fani Willis. (Related article: Nevada jury indicts six Republican electors who claimed Trump won the 2020 election)

Chesebro entered a plea deal in October, pleading guilty to one count of conspiracy to submit false statements. Roman’s lawyers said in January motion The indictment seeking to disqualify Willis includes the shocking allegation that Willis benefited financially from appointing Nathan Wade to the case despite being romantically involved with him.

Chesbro, Tulpis and Roman are scheduled to appear in Dane County Circuit Court on Sept. 19. according to To the Associated Press.

Wisconsin is the fifth state to accuse Trump allies of running a similar “fake electors” scheme during the 2020 election. Other states that have been sued include Arizona, Nevada, Michigan and Georgia.

Roman was one of 18 defendants indicted by an Arizona grand jury in April. Arizona Attorney General Chris Mays, a Democrat, said the defendants were charged with “attempting to undermine the will” of voters in the state’s 2020 election.
