Conservative sites are reporting that Tim Walz’s record as governor of Minnesota proves that the recently announced Democratic vice presidential nominee is a “radical” pro-abortion candidate.
Presumed Democratic presidential nominee Kamala Harris announced Tuesday that she would nominate Walz as her running mate, a move that aligns him with one of the nation’s most liberal Democratic leaders on the issue of abortion.
As Daily Signals It was reported on Monday that Governor Walz demonstrated his “radical anti-abortion stance” last year when he signed a Minnesota law that “places no restrictions on when a woman can end the life of a fetus.”
Governor Walz signed the Reproductive Options Protection Act into state law in January 2023. The act codifies the right of Minnesotans to access abortion and all other forms of “reproductive health care” without any restrictions or regulations from local governments.

The law states: “Every individual has the fundamental right to make autonomous decisions about his or her own reproductive health, including the fundamental right to accept or refuse reproductive health care.”
The act defines “reproductive health care” as “health care offered, arranged, or furnished for the purpose of preventing pregnancy, terminating pregnancy, managing miscarriage, or improving maternal health and birth outcomes.”
The law further provides that “local governments may not regulate an individual’s ability to freely exercise the fundamental rights set forth in this Article in a manner more restrictive than that provided in this Article.”
The Associated Press reported. At the time, supporters of the bill crafted it as a “backlash against the U.S. Supreme Court’s decision to overturn Roe v. Wade in 2022.”
As the Daily Signal article points out, Walz praised then-current laws protecting women’s reproductive health in light of the Supreme Court’s ruling.

“Minnesotans, please know that your access to reproductive health care and your right to make your own health care decisions will be preserved and protected,” Walz said, adding, “And because of this legislation, that will not change depending on the political winds or the makeup of the Supreme Court.”
Walz is also a supporter of radical transgender policies: The Signal reminded readers that in 2023, the governor “issued an executive order to ensure that Minnesota children have access to irreversible sex-reassignment surgery and hormonal sterilization treatments, what advocates call ‘gender-affirming care.'”
The Trump campaign immediately attacked Waltz for his liberal policies after he was announced as Harris’ running mate.
“Walz is obsessed with spreading California’s dangerously liberal agenda far and wide, and if he won’t tell voters the truth, we will. Like Kamala Harris, Tim Walz is a dangerously liberal extremist and Harris and Walz’s California Dream is every American’s nightmare,” Trump spokeswoman Carolyn Leavitt said.
Pro-life group Students for Life Action shared a statement from its president, Kristan Hawkins, with Fox News Digital on Tuesday about Harris’ nomination as vice presidential candidate.

“The Democratic slate is supersized with abortion extremists, with abortion advocate Kamala Harris joined by abortionist Tim Walz,” she said. “While Harris was completely ineffective as border secretary, Waltz has been and will remain America’s abortion secretary because he has a proven track record of commitment to mid-trimester abortion and to Planned Parenthood campaign donors. This slate is proof that taxpayers will be forced to fund the loss of life up to birth, because while Harris talks about abortion, Waltz has brought death to Minnesotans.”
