John James Links Trump’s Policies to Michigan Gubernatorial Run
Republican Representative John James, who is aiming for the governor’s office in Michigan, has rolled out a new advertisement that ties the future of President Trump’s second term and America First initiatives to Michigan’s political landscape.
On Thursday, James launched an ad named “Impeach,” emphasizing that with Michigan’s open Senate seat and four House elections, the state is pivotal in the battle to maintain Republican dominance in Congress.
James, who is currently leading in the Republican primary according to recent polls, argues that should Congress sway towards the Democratic Party after the upcoming 2026 Midterm Elections, figures like Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and Rep. Rashida Tlaib would push for Trump’s impeachment, dragging his Cabinet into the spotlight.
In the ad, James, describing his unflagging support for Trump, reaches out to Michigan voters who favor the MAGA agenda, stating that his election as governor is crucial to preserving Trump’s ability to implement his policies. He asserts, “If you care about President Trump, you have to stand up for John James.”
Moreover, his spokesperson, Hannah Osantouske, emphasized in a press release that the stakes are high: losing Michigan would enable Democrats to initiate Trump’s impeachment and thwart America First policies. She described James as a “conservative warrior” who families in Michigan can rely on.
As of Thursday morning, Trump had yet to endorse James in the Republican primary for governor, although he previously backed James’ campaigns for Congress and the U.S. Senate, even calling him “legendary.”
Osantouske indicated that James is keen on reestablishing Trump’s support, highlighting that “John James is a proven winner,” and reaffirming how Trump appreciates loyalty from his allies.
The latest polling data shows James maintaining a strong lead in the Republican primary, along with a slight edge in hypothetical matchups against Democratic Secretary of State Jocelyn Benson and the Democratic-leaning independent candidate Mike Duggan for the November general election.
