Democrats’ Major Fundraising Initiative Focuses on Social Media
Democrats are set to allocate tens of millions of dollars towards social media storytelling as part of a broader $110 million fundraising campaign, according to information acquired during a donor event organized by the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee (DCCC).
As detailed in one slide titled “Emergency Off-Era Financing Needs,” the DCCC has outlined a plan that includes raising $10 million specifically for social media and content creation. Additionally, they aim for $20 million dedicated to accountability efforts, $15 million for voter registration, $5 million for candidate recruitment, and $2 million for research and rapid response initiatives.
A key component of the campaign involves subscribing to at least 667 content creators with aspirations to reach 83 million Americans and generate 6.6 million engagements, as indicated in a slide focused on content creation. This program plans to incorporate at least 167 “non-political creators,” along with eight “examined creators” across different targeted platforms.
Furthermore, there is a “social media bootcamp” lasting four weeks, where content creators will receive training on topics such as “Customized Social Media Assessment,” “Platform-specific Optimization Strategies,” “Real-Time Insights on Trend and Engagement Strategies,” and “Daily + Rapid Response Content.”
The slides also highlight Democratic Zinc Group Super PACs as participants in the boot camp. Notably, one of the main advisors listed is Robbie Mook, who was the campaign manager for Hillary Clinton’s 2016 presidential bid, alongside former adviser Mike Smith.
This initiative emerges amid Republican dominance in social media engagement. For instance, in June, @Teamtrump, managed by Alex Bruesewitz and his company X Strategy, recorded over 200 million more interactions on Instagram and TikTok than official Democratic accounts, as per data analyzed by Breitbart News.
Bruesewitz remarked that it’s “comical” for Democrats to invest so heavily to match the GOP’s online presence. He expressed, “It’s hilarious and pathetic that Democrats are begging donors for tens of millions of dollars to compete with our online presence. We don’t pay creators to support President Trump. His leadership naturally inspires widespread and authentic support.”
A slide labeled “Five Reasons to Be Optimistic” reveals some narrative strategies that could be used on platforms like TikTok. One reason focuses on targeting what they refer to as “The Big Ugly Bill,” which critiques Trump’s legislative legacy.
Another proposed reason for optimism considers “enthusiasm and general voting advantages,” although it’s noted that there’s some disagreement on the enthusiasm front. According to YouGov, the Democratic Party holds a favorable rating of just 33.9%, with about 62% of respondents feeling unfavorable since July 27th.
By contrast, the GOP holds a favorable rating of 40.1% in recent YouGov polling. Though Democrats show a slight edge over Republicans in general Congressional voting anticipation for 2026, it’s just a marginal 2.9%, based on RealClearPolitics averages.
Other points of optimism highlighted include the DCCC’s focus on recruiting the right candidates for swing districts and the solid foundation that Democratic leaders have established since 2018 to secure wins.
Breitbart News reached out to the DCCC for a comment regarding this article but did not receive a prompt reply.
