Vance Critiques Democrats’ Response to Epstein Scandal
Vice President JD Vance has expressed skepticism about the Democrats’ sincerity regarding the crimes of financier Jeffrey Epstein, especially following Kamala Harris’ defeat last November.
“The Democrats don’t care about Epstein,” Vance stated, sharing his thoughts on X during a recent post. “They’ve ignored his victims for years. Instead, they focus on concocting fake scandals like Russiagate to smear President Trump. No one is buying into this.”
This sentiment seems to reflect a broader frustration with how the media portrays the relationship between Trump and Epstein. Recently, the House Oversight Committee unveiled a birthday card purportedly sent by Trump to Epstein in 2003. Even though the Wall Street Journal reported on it earlier, they withheld details that could have clarified the situation, leading to speculation.
The White House countered these claims, asserting that the card’s existence is unsubstantiated. Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt emphasized that “this ‘birthday card’ story is false,” affirming that Trump neither created nor signed it.
In the midst of these controversies, some Democratic lawmakers have found surprising support among certain Republicans who have opposed Trump’s initiatives. With government funding deadlines approaching on September 30 and important legislation looming, Rep. Thomas Massey (R-KY) is actively looking to gather support for a vote that could release further Epstein documents.
Massey has prioritized this issue, especially as the landscape of Trump’s political alliances shifts leading to the 2026 primaries. He expressed confidence in securing enough votes to push the petition forward, although currently, only a few Republicans have joined his cause. It’s possible that Trump might dissuade more members from backing Massey’s petition.
Vance suggested that Americans might not have clarity on this issue until after the midterm elections, questioning the Democrats’ sudden interest in 2025.
