On a failed trip to El Salvador by Maryland Democratic Sen. Chris Van Hollen, Kilmer Armando Abrego Garcia (an affiliate of illegal immigrants and MS-13 gangs) reveals stupid irony from the biggest security prisons. Democrats may have managed to move him to a neighboring country if they took a smarter and more subtle approach. Instead, they chose politics. This was not actually about Abrego Garcia. It was about attacking President Donald Trump.
You don’t know that from media reports, but Abrego Garcia was legally deported – under a long-standing court order. Virtually no corporate outlets will admit this, as it undermines the media narrative. On his third appeal, Abrego Garcia convinced the judge that El Salvador was not safe for him. Therefore, the court issued withholding of removal, not asylum, a directive that he would be deported to a country other than El Salvador. Someone in the federal government ruined this order and missed him, and he was imprisoned in his home country.
Thanks to Van Hollen’s choice to create a sight instead of a phone, we are sure of the outcome.
There was a simple and implemented way to solve this. As a US Senator, Van Hollen is one of the most powerful people on the planet. He didn’t need protests or videos of the virus Tiktok. He had to get the phone.
He could have called Secretary of State Marco Rubio, a former Senate colleague. He could explain that Abrego Garcia was accused of both the immigration judge and the immigration committee of the country, who were allowed to partner with MS-13, but was found to have not been personally linked to violent acts – despite a court order banning it, but was accused of being mistakenly sent to a Salvador prison.
Van Hollen may have insisted on sending him to third countries, Guatemala, Belize, Costa Rica, and more. Maybe that didn’t work. The Trump administration may have wanted to send a clear message to illegal alien gang bangers. They either self-declaration or end up in prisons in their home country, not ours.
But now, thanks to Van Hollen’s choice to create a sight instead of a phone, we are sure of the outcome.
Making a real difference was never the goal. The goal was to embarrass the Trump administration while earning Democrat bases and points. That’s why Van Hollen dialed the State Department from El Salvador instead of calling from his office in Washington. It was a political theatre aimed at stubborn Democrats, especially white people, the party’s most loyal demographic, and college-educated women.
You can say in the subtitles of his video. They were not Spanish. They were in English.
However, the stunt exploded in his face. While Van Hollen played an activist overseas, the Trump White House hosted one of his actual components, Maryland resident Patty Morin. Her daughter – a mother of five – was raped, beaten and strangled by illegal immigrants on a nearby forest trail.
Meanwhile, ICE continued to arrest criminal foreigners in Maryland. Back at home, the serious work was still over.
The battle is now open to the public. What could have been a quiet movement of partisan diplomacy has been dragged into a partisan war over presidential forces — in part the Supreme Court had to restrain the judicial jihad of Maryland Judge Paula Sinis thanks to judicial jihad against the Trump White House.
What once managed diplomatic issues have become the high stakes battle over the rights of the administrative sector to enforce Article II powers and immigration laws and implement foreign policy. And while the legal grass war is raging, Abrego Garcia remains behind bars in El Salvador.
As one CNN panelist snapped when he reminded him that the new folk hero’s own wife accused him of being a serial abuser in 2021, “We can’t make that about Kilmer!”
