CBS News reporter Jan Crawford claimed Sunday that Senate Democrats have launched a “calculated effort” to undermine public opinion on the Supreme Court.
After CBS correspondent Major Garrett highlighted the court's record-low approval ratings on Sunday's “Face the Nation,” Crawford suggested the problem started long before 2024. .
“It really started with Dobbs, the court decision that overturned Roe v. Wade,” Crawford said. “The outrage was so extreme that I think we saw a pretty calculated effort by Democrats, Senate Democrats, to undermine the legitimacy of the Supreme Court, including articles about the hearings and scandals, to say the least. The section was quite exaggerated.''Therefore, it influences public opinion. ”

CBS reporter says the most 'underreported' thing about 2024 was Biden's 'obvious cognitive decline'
She continued, “The public is starting to believe that this court is corrupt, that this court is being conducted. None of this is true. This is still a court, and you may disagree with their decisions. But it's a very conservative court. These nine justices have very different views on the interpretation of the Constitution, and they're in this grand battle over law, not politics. .”
Crawford was referring to a high-profile case earlier this summer over presidential immunity, in which the court ruled 6-3 that former presidents like President-elect Donald Trump cannot be prosecuted for official conduct. The court ruled that there was a substantial right to immunity.

She criticized Democratic opponents for “misrepresenting” the incident, even though the decision would actually protect President Biden from prosecution.
“If you look at the polls, yes, the courts are hurting, but that's been the case for many years. Courts are often hurting, and so are other institutions. In the court's opinion, public opinion is still our public opinion. “It's much higher than other institutions, including the White House, Congress, and overwhelmingly the news media,” Crawford said.
