Democrats’ nomination of Biden in virtual roll call could come as early as mid-July

The Democratic National Committee is considering formally nominating Biden as the nominee for president as early as mid-July, two Democratic Party officials confirmed to Fox News.

Biden’s potential nomination date is July 21, the same day the Democratic National Convention’s credentials committee meets virtually.

As has been reported for several weeks, Democratic Party officials have decided not to hold a formal roll call at the party’s convention, which begins in Chicago on August 19.

That’s because the Democratic convention will take place after Ohio’s polls close on Aug. 7. Party officials have said they will hold a roll call before Ohio’s polls close, allowing Biden to appear on Ohio’s ballot.

But the latest developments regarding the roll call date on July 21 also come after President Trump’s disastrous performance last Thursday in his first head-to-head debate with former President Donald Trump.

The 81-year-old president’s halting delivery and halting responses during the debate caused widespread panic within the Democratic Party, with political commentators, editorial writers, some party politicians and donors calling for Biden to step down as the party’s standard-bearer.

The possibility of a roll wall on July 21 was first reported by Bloomberg News.
