Democrats are to blame for the housing crisis because they have allowed “millions” of people into American society through illegal immigration, said Dr. Ben Carson, who served as U.S. Secretary of Housing and Urban Development under former President Donald Trump. Breitbart News Daily.
Host Matthew Boyle asked Carson about the cost of housing under a Biden-Harris administration, which he called “one of the biggest issues” facing Americans.
“[Kamala] “Harris is pushing many of these policies,” Boyle said, noting that many people in the country cannot afford to buy a home or raise a family.
“You have to realize there are a few factors at play. First, he’s bringing millions of people into society who also need places to live, so there’s more competition for those places and naturally prices go up,” Carson said, likely referring to the Biden-Harris administration’s open border policies that have brought millions of illegal immigrants into the United States.

“And when you look at the inflationary spiral, what are the causes of this inflation? There are a few causes,” he continued, pointing to the fact that governments have pumped trillions of dollars into the economy, explaining that what’s happened is basically “the introductory economics formula for inflation.”
“And what have we done with energy? Energy costs increase gasoline prices, they increase the cost of operating the trucking business, they pass that cost on, and this country depends on trucking to move goods,” Carson said, explaining the problem.
“So if their home prices go up substantially, then other home prices go up substantially as well,” he said, pointing to the domino effect that created this “huge housing problem” under Democratic leadership.
Carson also explained that he recognizes that the majority of homeless people suffer from mental health issues or drug addiction, and that his administration will address that reality.
His comments echo those of Arizona Senate candidate Kali Lake, who told Breitbart News at the Republican National Convention in July that illegal immigration takes a huge toll on Americans, especially younger generations.

“And then on top of that, we have an influx of 12 million people. They have to live somewhere and the government is putting them in hotels or subsidizing apartments. Even if they weren’t, we have to compete with them for apartments,” she explained.
“When there’s limited supply and too much demand, prices go up. That’s exactly why housing is so unaffordable for young people,” she added.
