A post on the X account of the widely beloved “Sesame Street” character Cookie Monster drew reactions from the White House and several Democratic members of Congress. The post lamented shrinkflation, a term used to describe companies reducing the size of products without lowering prices.
“I hate shrinkflation! It makes my cookies smaller” Cookie Monster post he declared. “I think I have to have the Double Da Cookie!” Another posted Added.
President Joe Biden has previously described shrinkflation as a “rip-off” and called on companies to stop engaging in it.
The White House X account responded to Cookie Monster’s post. Tweet“C is that consumers are being deceived. President Biden is calling on businesses to stop shrinkflation.”
“Big companies are trying to copy Cookie Monster,” said Democratic Congressman Chris Deluzio of Pennsylvania. tweeted.
“We hate it too, Cookie Monster. And it’s not just cookies! Greedy companies are making a lot of things smaller without lowering prices. We’re working to stop them. —No one should get richer off a little cookie!” Democratic Sen. Chris Van Hollen of Maryland declared.
“Me too, Cookie Monster. Big companies shrink the size of their products without lowering prices, all to pay the CEO’s bonus. People in my state of Ohio are fed up with it. What they pay for. You should get all the cookies,” said Democratic-Sen.Sherrod Brown of Ohio declared.
Democratic Senator Elizabeth Warren of Massachusetts answered“@SenBobCasey and I have that bill.”
This isn’t the only time the Biden administration has responded to X’s “Sesame Street” character this year. In late January, Biden’s @POTUS X account retweeted a post from his Elmo account.
