Democrats ‘Say They Are Joyful,’ Yet Actual Message ‘Dark and Ominous’

VALDOSTA, Georgia — Sen. J.D. Vance (R-Ohio), former President Donald Trump's running mate, told Breitbart News exclusively that while Democrats are sending a message about Vice President-elect Kamala Harris that they call “joyful,” in reality the message is “dark and sinister.” Of course, Democrats used the word “joy” dozens of times at the Democratic National Convention and are pushing the notion as a theme for Harris' nascent campaign.

“What I don't understand about this joy is they're saying they're joyous,” JD Vance said in an exclusive interview at the Lowndes County Sheriff's Office last week. “But when you actually watch their convention, it's actually pretty dark and ominous. Their selling point isn't, 'lower gas prices, lower food prices, bring manufacturing jobs back from China.' They can't say that because Kamala Harris hasn't done that. Their argument is that anyone who wants to change the direction of this country by voting for Donald Trump is a bad person. To wage war on your own people and say the people you elected are bad people is not joyous. It's very dark. And unfortunately, that's where the Democrats are headed. So they can talk all they want about joy, but I don't think most Americans who watched that convention felt much joy.”

When asked to compare the two visions for the country, the Democratic vision and the Republican vision, Vance said the Republican vision he and Trump are offering is “very simple.”

“If we work hard and play by the rules, we should be able to provide for our families and live a good life in this country,” Vance said. “We should be able to get a good job that pays a fair wage. We should be able to grow up in a community that is safe and secure. We should be able to send our children to schools that aren't brainwashing us. And we should be able to build a life in a place that isn't overrun by Mexican drug cartels and fentanyl trafficking.”

But when it comes to Democrats, Vance said their view is that anyone who votes for Trump is a “bad person.”

“And frankly, their vision — I don't know what their vision is. I don't want to speak for them,” Vance said, “but their vision seems to be that if you vote right, you're a good person, and if you vote wrong, you're a bad person. Which, as far as I can tell, is similar to what Pete Buttigieg has said about this. [at the DNC]”The idea that politics is what life is all about, that you can find salvation, meaning and purpose in it. The Republican attitude to politics is that we want effective government because we want safe cities and a strong economy, but politics is not where most people find meaning, nor should it be.”

More details about Vance's latest exclusive interview with Breitbart News will be released soon.
