Former President Donald Trump is being dragged into court on trumped-up “court” charges against him, and millions of liberals and Democrats seem ecstatic. Such confusion, confusion, and pain can feel exhilarating when the other side’s bull is being stung.
But what happens if their cow is gored in just a few months? Or will it be them themselves?
Will they cheer? Will they take to the streets to celebrate? of course not. They will label the attack as “partisan” and proclaim their innocence, while demanding fair justice.
Unruly partisan politics is rapidly moving our country down a path that will routinely weaponize the law to eliminate political opponents, a path that is destructive to everyone.
New York Times columnist David Brooks Said The center-left PBS News Hour recently delivered the quiet part out loud: “When you look at democracies in decline, you see people in power using their power to commit injustices.” There is a pattern of prosecuting people, criminalizing them, and imprisoning them.”They came to power before their opponents. And we are a nation in which democracy has declined. ”
He may have tried to project such unethical and illegal behavior onto Trump and the Democratic Party, but this completely defines what the Democratic Party is currently trying to do with Trump.
As I write this, the Biden White House, the Democratic National Committee, Democratic politicians, most mainstream media, most academia, and most Hollywood have Democratic district attorneys, attorneys general, and special prosecutors. , and judges like Alvin Bragg, Letitia James, Fani Willis, Jack Smith, Arthur F. Engoron, and Juan Marchan, bankrupted Trump, shut out voters, and hurt his campaign. There appears to be a concerted effort to send him to prison.
But what if that toxic partisan shoe quickly switches from the Republican’s foot to the Democratic’s? Despite the endless legal battles waged against Trump, Trump becomes the next president of the United States. More and more people are expecting it. So what?
Conservative and Republican pundits say they are using the exact same tactics to pursue Trump to investigate Hillary Clinton, former President Barack Obama and President Biden. There is already open speculation that state attorneys general, district attorneys, and prosecutors should adopt it.
Many on the right believe former President Obama has had a very interesting history in Chicago. Hillary Clinton has a very interesting history with hard drives. Biden has a very interesting history in Ukraine and China. Especially under a Republican administration, how easy would it be for Republicans to sue Clinton, Obama, and Biden, or to “reinterpret the law” to rule against them?
Although it may seem counterintuitive or sacrilegious to many on the left, Democrats need to protect Trump from this legal action to protect themselves in the near future. Whether they see it or not, a huge storm is advancing and approaching them. A storm clouded by the Democratic Party.
So here’s a crazy idea. Instead of creating a Frankenstein courtroom monster that will surely work against them, why don’t Democrats simply try to defeat Trump fair and square at the voting booth? It’s a very logical and American concept, and one that ESPN sportscaster Stephen A. Smith recently praised. clear On his talk show:
“My liberal friends, all you’re doing is showing fear that you can’t win.” [Trump] On the issues and benefits…and to me, the Democrats are ashamed of their lack of competitiveness…they had to come up with someone else from 2016 and they still can’t do it? ? That’s pathetic. That’s pathetic. There’s no excuse for that…what tens of millions of people are willing to do just to remove him from office because they can’t beat him on their own. know. ”
The strategy that President Biden has celebrated in recent years seems to have been to preach that President Trump is a disgusting “threat to democracy.” But in doing so, they also appeared to fully embrace Machiavelli’s “ends justify the means” strategy by deploying anti-democratic and un-American tactics.
But again, this corruptible strategy can quickly turn against you. How much better would it be to simply accept Stephen A. Smith’s challenge and try to beat Trump at the polls?
Believe in the will of the American people. Why does that option scare them so much?
