Brian McClendon’s Unforgettable COVID Experience

Brian McClendon, a friend of Blaze TV host Rick Burgess, recounts a harrowing tale related to the coronavirus. In a recent episode of Burgess’s podcast, “Strange Encounters,” which delves into biblical themes of spiritual warfare, McClendon shared a hospital experience that profoundly altered his understanding of evil.

In the summer of 2021, during the rise of the Delta variant, Brian was celebrating his renewed relationship with his wife, Emily. They planned a trip to the beach to renew their vows on their wedding anniversary, thrilled that they had reconciled their tumultuous marriage.

But things took a turn for the worse. Upon arriving at the beach, Brian started feeling ill. He managed to renew his vows, yet by the time they returned home, he found himself confined to bed. His condition worsened, prompting a trip to the hospital, where he was diagnosed with a severe case of COVID-19.

As days passed, his oxygen levels plummeted, mirroring a decline in his mental state. He reflected on his isolation in the hospital, describing it as feeling like a “leper,” especially after being treated poorly by staff due to his choice not to get vaccinated.

Eventually, his situation deteriorated enough for him to be placed in intensive care. At his request, the doctors put him on a ventilator, a grim indicator of his proximity to death.

During this medically-induced state of sedation, Brian experienced a surreal, purgatorial-like existence. He described a partially open door with a “dark figure” lurking behind it. He recalled trying to tell Emily to close the door, but she insisted there was no door to close.

The dark entity threatened Brian, asserting that if it couldn’t pass through the door, it would kill him and his family. He also reminisced about encountering a female demon, possibly a witch, offering glowing blue pills to those around him, only to later discover that the same individuals died shortly after.

One of his most unsettling visions was of being tied to a tree, feeling utterly helpless as a device seemed poised to crush him. He mentioned seeing a demon with an attractive appearance but with grasshopper-like legs.

In a twist, Brian said that when the devil learned he couldn’t be harmed, an angel appeared—looking familiar, freeing him from his chains and declaring him safe.

Following what seemed like a miraculous recovery, Brian came to a realization: “I’m a Christian. I’m a child of God,” he stated.
