Demonstrators gather at an Oregon hotel thought to be housing FBI Director Kash Patel

A group of protesters converged on a hotel in Oregon over the weekend, where FBI Director Kash Patel was thought to be staying while attending a friend’s funeral.

Footage shared on social media shows a boisterous crowd assembling outside the Sentinel Hotel in downtown Portland Saturday night.

The demonstrators were there to voice their opposition to what they called the “weaponization” of the FBI during Donald Trump’s presidency, with particular attention on Patel’s involvement with documents linked to convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein. This information was reported by FOX 12 Oregon.

It’s still unclear exactly which hotel Patel was at.

Reportedly, Patel and his girlfriend, Alexis Wilkins, were in the city for the funeral of a close friend.

According to officials, Patel assisted in carrying the casket during the service. The funeral took place on Saturday in Portland, as noted in an obituary.

FOX 12 indicated that the protesters used publicly available tracking data to gather information about travel itineraries believed to belong to Patel and tracked a Justice Department plane associated with him.

The protesters allegedly monitored security in the downtown area and pinpointed potential hotels where Patel might be staying.

One protester mentioned, “It’s not 100% confirmed, but it’s very likely he was at Sentinel.”

Their aim? To protest against Trump and Patel’s perceived misuse of the FBI in ways that undermine free speech and the press.

Fox News Digital has reached out for comments from the Department of Justice, the Sentinel Hotel, the Portland Police Bureau, and the FBI.
