Denise Richards Testifies in Court, Alleges Abuse Against Estranged Husband

In Los Angeles, Denise Richards, known from “The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills,” became emotional in court while recounting allegations of abuse from her estranged husband, Aaron Phypers. On Monday, she appeared to seek a temporary restraining order in their ongoing divorce proceedings, detailing incidents of what she described as physical and emotional violations.

Richards, dressed in blue leather, provided harrowing testimony about the abuse she says she endured. There was a moment in court when she requested tissues, visibly shaken as she recalled particularly distressing memories from July. She described Phypers as “very unstable,” particularly during a hotel stay just hours after she had undergone significant cosmetic surgeries, including facelifts.

She described a jarring incident—allegedly, Phypers hit her and even went so far as to damage property during a confrontation. “That was when we truly realized our marriage was over,” she stated. “I was terrified and couldn’t even walk alone.” Richards emphasized feeling vulnerable, especially after her surgery.

Richards shared more recent examples of alleged abuse, saying that during an argument, Phypers physically restrained her. “He grabbed my arm while I was recovering from surgery and called me names when I was simply texting someone else,” she recounted, expressing her fear in such moments.

One troubling incident occurred after returning from a trip when she awoke to Phypers allegedly squeezing her head in anger, leading to feelings of panic. “I was shocked and terrified,” she added, recalling feeling especially ill at ease given their physical differences—she is 5 feet 4 inches compared to his 6-foot frame.

Throughout her testimony, Richards claimed that Phypers often threatened her, recounting an instance where he allegedly said he would “break my jaw” while expressing regret immediately after. She had hesitated to notify authorities about the abuse, fearing repercussions from Phypers, who had supposedly threatened her if she ever did.

In response to all allegations, Phypers has fiercely denied any wrongdoing, asserting that he has never abused Richards in any form. His legal team has suggested that former partners, including Charlie Sheen and Brandi Glanville, could testify about Richards’ history, which they claim undermines her credibility.

The couple shares a daughter, and this separation has brought forth a number of troubling allegations, with Richards asserting a need for protection following a myriad of violent episodes. It remains to be seen how the legal proceedings will unfold as both parties prepare for what could become a contentious battle in court.
