Tragic Deaths of Ohio Dentist and Wife Shock Community

A dentist and his wife from Columbus, Ohio, were discovered dead in their home just weeks before their fifth wedding anniversary. Police conducted a welfare check around 10 a.m. Tuesday, only to find Spencer and Monique Tepe had apparently died from gunshot wounds. Fortunately, their two young children were unharmed at the location.

Dr. Mark Valrose, who runs Athens Dental Depot where Spencer worked, made the 911 call after expressing concern about Spencer’s absence from work. He mentioned that it was unusual for Spencer not to show up or contact anyone.

Authorities retrieved 911 records through a public request. They stated that they do not believe the couple’s deaths were part of a murder-suicide, noting no firearms were found on the premises and there were no signs of forced entry.

Valrose initially called 911 at 9:03 a.m. Tuesday, reporting his worries about Spencer and Monique. By 9:22 a.m., the police arrived at their residence but got no response after knocking.

In another call from a friend of Spencer’s who went to check on him, the friend reported discovering a body.

In that call, the friend described the scene, stating, “It looks like he’s dead. He’s bloodied and off the bed.” The concern for the children’s safety has been a priority throughout the investigation.

Athens Dental Depot released a heartfelt statement after the incident, expressing their sorrow over Spencer’s passing and extending their condolences to both families during this tragic time. Rob Misley, Spencer’s brother-in-law, shared that the couple had married in 2021 and was looking forward to celebrating their fifth anniversary next month.
