Nintendo Switch 2 Now Available in Stores
Nintendo has finally released its first new console in eight years, the Switch 2. Before any were sold, there were sneak peeks of games developed for it.
In a surprising turn, shortly after the system’s global launch, Colorado officials are investigating the theft of $1.4 million worth of Switch 2 consoles. This occurred at a truck stop on June 8, according to the Arapahoe County Sheriff’s Office.
The driver of a semi-truck discovered, during an inspection, that several pallets of these newly released consoles had gone missing. Each Nintendo console is valued at $499. The driver mentioned he was headed to a GameStop and had no idea what was loaded in the trailer initially, just that it contained games and toys.
It’s still unclear if the theft took place in Bennett or somewhere else along the route.
If caught, the suspects could face felony theft charges exceeding $1 million. The sheriff’s department is seeking information from the public, encouraging anyone who knows something to reach out.
The Nintendo Switch 2, priced at $499, represents the company’s priciest console yet. While the original Switch debuted in 2017 at a base price of $299, Nintendo has indicated potential price adjustments for accessories due to changing market conditions.
