Investigation Launched After School Deputy’s Incident

A school resource deputy in Riverside County has been taken off duty and is now under investigation following the circulation of a video that appears to show an act of violence against a student.

As reported by the Riverside County Sheriff’s Office, the incident occurred around 3:45 p.m. on Tuesday in the vicinity of Vista del Lago High School, specifically on Russell Street.

Deputies responded to reports of an assault involving students in the area.

According to the information provided, while attempting to restrain one of the boys, he resisted and pulled away, leading the deputy to resort to using force.

The video that surfaced on Instagram quickly drew strong reactions from viewers online.

Paramedics arrived at the scene to assess the situation, and the boy was subsequently taken into custody on charges of resisting arrest and assault.

The Riverside County Sheriff’s Office has reassigned the deputy from the school resource program as an internal investigation is underway.
