In a separate incident, a deputy was shot and killed on Monday while trying to execute an arrest warrant in Alexandria, Louisiana, as reported by the U.S. Marshals Service.
The Rapides Parish Sheriff’s Office indicated that the event took place around 3 p.m. in the Rutland Road area while law enforcement officers were attempting to apprehend a fugitive. “Sheriff’s detectives, alongside the U.S. Marshals Violent Offender Task Force, were performing law enforcement duties to capture the wanted individual when the officer-involved shooting occurred,” the sheriff’s office detailed in their statement.
The suspect was ultimately detained after a significant standoff. Reports noted that the individual sustained injuries during the encounter and was transported to a local hospital for care.
The FBI is overseeing the investigation linked to the deputy’s death, with the Sheriff’s Office looking into the shooting as well. Louisiana State Police is also involved in the inquiry.

We are currently leading the investigation into the attack on a federal officer, while Louisiana State Police is examining potential violations of state law. The suspect is in custody, and there’s no ongoing threat to the public. We can’t provide further details at this moment since this is an active investigation.”
FBI Director Kash Patel remarked, “In light of the tragic loss of one of our deputies today while executing an arrest warrant in Alexandria, Louisiana, the FBI is committed to providing full resources to the Rapides Parish Sheriff’s Office and our courageous partners at U.S. Marshals. The suspect is now in custody, and we ask for prayers for the deputy’s family and friends.”
