Gloria Govan, the wife of Derek Fisher, was removed from a men’s basketball game on Monday night following a heated dispute.
This unusual incident took place at a gym in the Los Angeles area while Fisher was coaching Crespi against Notre Dame in a Mission League tournament semifinal.
During the second quarter, Fisher, a five-time NBA champion, found himself in a disagreement with officials after being warned to stay within the coaching box.
Witnesses report that Govan erupted from her seat to join the fray, shouting expletives, which led Notre Dame officials to ask if she wished to leave. When her outbursts continued, they ordered her to exit the venue. A referee later gestured for her removal as well.
Video from a spectator captured the scene, showing Govan along with Fisher moments before the ejection.
Fisher appeared visibly disturbed by the events, needing to be restrained at one point by a staff member from Crespi. Despite the chaos, Fisher’s team ultimately lost the game, 82-78.
Fisher, who has been coaching Crespi since 2023 after a notable NBA career, has yet to address the incident publicly.
