Derrick Henry says Cowboys didn’t call him ‘at all’ in free agency

The Dallas Cowboys lost Tony Pollard in free agency, so one would think he would replace the starting running back.

Several backs were put up for sale, including Saquon Barkley, Josh Jacobs, D’Andre Swift and Derrick Henry.

Pollard replaces Henry at Tennessee, so the Cowboys could essentially have completed the trade.

Henry was clearly not on Dallas’ radar.

“I really don’t know what’s going on there,” he said.

Instead, Henry was traded to the Baltimore Ravens on a two-year, $16 million contract.

“Baltimore showed the most interest and was the place I wanted to go, so I’m glad we were able to make it happen,” Henry said. “But the Cowboys never made any calls.”

But Henry wasn’t afraid to admit that he had a big interest in Dallas.

“Of course,” he said, eyeing them.

“I’ll be there in the offseason. I’m at the tail end of my career. It’s a great organization. It would have been a great opportunity,” he said. “But I’m grateful that I ended up here in Baltimore. It’s where I wanted to be. They wanted me, too. It was a perfect match.”

Henry became a Pro Bowler for the fourth time in his career in 2023. He rushed for 1,167 yards and 12 touchdowns, and led the NFL with 280 rushing attempts for the second straight season. He has led the NFL in carries four of the past five seasons. . He spent most of 2021 sidelined with an injury.
