Derrick Henry: To start or to sit for Week 6 fantasy football guidance

As Week 6 of the 2025 NFL season kicks off, the Los Angeles Rams are set to face the Baltimore Ravens at 1 PM ET on FOX, marking a cross-country journey for the Rams.

The once-promising season for the Ravens has taken a steep downturn, highlighted by a staggering 44-10 defeat to the Texans last Sunday. Without Lamar Jackson, the team appeared lost, struggling significantly. A notable concern was veteran running back Derrick Henry, who, unlike last year, failed to dominate the field and had a tough time making yards.

Now, let’s dive into Henry’s fantasy football prospects for Week 6.

Fantasy Football Analysis: Ravens RB Derrick Henry

In the recent game against the Rams, Henry carried the ball 15 times, managing just 33 yards, although he did snag a touchdown during garbage time in the third quarter. This score linked him with Walter Payton, marking his status with the fifth-most rushing touchdowns in NFL history. However, since a strong performance in Week 1, Henry has struggled to eclipse 50 rushing yards in the last four games.

With 317 rushing yards and four touchdowns this season, he could still be a dependable RB2 in many fantasy leagues. Yet, it’s worth noting he was a consensus 11th overall pick this year, which is a stark decline when compared to the same point last year when he was a league leader and won the NFL Offensive Player of the Year award.

For opposing defenses, stopping Henry means ramping up their pressure. An average of 7.90 defenders are positioned in the box, the highest rate among running backs with at least 50 carries this season. While Henry averages 4.95 yards per carry, his efficiency isn’t great, with a completion rate of only 34.38%. It’s also possible that some positive statistics are skewed by a standout performance in the season opener against the Bills.

Should you start or join the standard league for Week 6?

It’s surprising to say this, but I think you should consider benching Henry this week. The Ravens are struggling without Jackson, and given Cooper Rush’s limitations, it’s likely that defenses will continue to stack the box against Henry. You might want to look for a different player to fill your RB1 position this week.
