Derrick Henry's role in an Adam Sandler movie depends on this NFL achievement

Exciting news on the horizon: Adam Sandler and possibly Derrick Henry are making waves.

This week, the Ravens’ star running back shared with Sandler’s close friend, Dan Patrick, that Sandler is his all-time favorite actor. He expressed a desire to meet him someday.

Patrick upped the stakes by telling Henry, who rushed for a remarkable 1,921 yards last season, that if he can exceed 2,000 yards next season, he’d help him land a role in a Sandler movie.

The beloved actor and comedian responded enthusiastically.

“Yo Derrick, I just woke up, so I probably look terrible,” Sandler quipped at the beginning of Henry’s video message. “But listen, I’m proud of you. If you crack over 2,000 yards, let’s have a celebratory dinner—not just movie talk. I’ll even mention Dan Patrick’s hair and how tough it is to grow,” he added with a laugh.

Henry smiled widely as he watched the clip.

“That’s my guy,” he exclaimed at the end of the message. “Yeah, man, that’s really cool.”

Afterward, he sent a heartfelt note to Patrick, thanking him for connecting him with his favorite actor.

“Thanks, Dan, for getting me that video message; it was super cool!” the Ravens running back shared. “Lots of love!”

This is generating quite a buzz.

Henry has crossed the 2,000-yard mark in a season only once throughout his nine-year NFL journey.

Last season, during his inaugural year with the Ravens in 2024-25, he narrowly missed that milestone.

At just 79 yards shy, the 31-year-old, who recently signed a $30 million contract extension with the Ravens, is clearly eager to showcase both his skills on the field and his acting potential, given the conditions laid out by Patrick and Sandler.

He has some prior experience in acting, appearing in numerous commercials and ads over his NFL career, being a five-time Pro Bowler and the 2020 AP Offensive Player of the Year.
