DeSantis Administration Condemns Pornographic Books Aimed at Children

The DeSantis administration on Thursday introduced several books for school children that feature sexually explicit material at a press conference, saying Florida parents “have the right to send their children to school knowing that they will receive an education.” Yes, but not indoctrinated.”

Florida Governor Ron DeSantis (R) used a slideshow to explain how activists continue to hijack the book approval process. He said no one was trying to overtly defend sexually explicit content in schools, but said some were trying to create a “false narrative”. Because of that, he supervise of Department of Eeducation to take appropriate action to transaction and bad actor politicize of process.

Some of the examples of books provided were quite graphic, such as one titled “This Book Is Gay.”“Nudity, graphic discussions of sex acts, encouraging minors to sign up for gay sex apps,” the DeSantis administration video’s narrator said.

Another work, called “Gender Queer,” features “graphic depictions of sexuality, including masturbation.” The book’s pages contain a depiction of two naked men having sex with a vibrator, with the caption reading: Remembering my latest gayship, this develops into a hip thrust. ”

Another, “Let’s Talk About It,” “contains graphic depictions of genitalia, masturbation, oral sex, and anal sex, and teaches children to watch pornography, use butt plugs, and expose naked photos.” “We encourage people to send things to each other,” the list continues. .

Parents in Florida have the right to send their children to school knowing that they will be educated but not brainwashed, DeSantis said at a press conference.

“So we provided very strong protections for parental rights,” he said, explaining that parents “will bring about…”[the pornographic material] If you start reading until the school board meeting begins, school board members will say it’s “too graphic.” You can’t do that at a school board meeting. ” Well, if you can’t do it at school board meetings, why introduce it to school children’s classrooms? ” DeSantis asked, explaining that activists will now “challenge just about everything that is not appropriate” and thereby “hijack this process” for a variety of reasons. He has therefore directed the Department of Education to “take appropriate steps to deal with some of the bad actors who are intentionally depriving students of the education they deserve by politicizing this process.” .

“If you, as a teacher, take the position that any book is not appropriate because the state says…, that’s a lie,” DeSantis explained. “Secondly, you are robbing students of the ability to accomplish what we are trying to do, which is give them a good education.”

“Trying to create a narrative for political purposes should not be allowed,” he added, demurring.

“If you want to stand up and defend what you saw on that screen, have the courage to do so publicly and openly, instead of lying that Florida wants to ban classical music,” the governor added. .

Florida Education Commissioner Manny Diaz Jr. also spoke, vowing that the department “will continue to set the record straight for as long as it takes.”

“This process is designed to prevent activists from inserting inappropriate material into our children’s classrooms,” he added.
